N. 6th St. / N. Williamsburg

Everyone has probably heard of North Williamsburg being described as the center of the Hipster Universe. Home to cutting edge art galleries, a vibrant nightlife, trendy restaurants, and eclectic hotels, it is also a staging ground for outdoor concert events and festivals, year-round and seasonal flea markets, "not your father's bowling establishments", and a weekly delightful outdoor market featuring local food artisans. North Williamsburg is a neighborhood that features a unique diversity that can be experienced by hanging out in coffee shops, strolling in serene park settings, attending art exhibitions and performances, or just hunting for food, drink, and/or clothing on Bedford Ave. Take a stroll into North Williamsburg, day or night, and you're sure to find something that excites you.

Fluent City

Fluent City is an afterwork language school based out of Brooklyn with locations across the country. We offer group classes in Williamsburg and Manhattan (and private lessons, as well) with exuberant professors who make language learning uniquely awesome experience.

We fit into your schedule effortlessly, too, like yoga class, trivia night, or seeing a friend’s band. And at totally reasonable rates, we make sure you experience the very top-notch class for which you’ve paid.

Fluent City classes are geared toward learning, but we also make sure you have a blast! Energetic, approachable professors leading laid-back classes, Fluent City allows you to try something new alongside like-minded people and teachers who make the process an absolute delight.

There is a huge difference between knowing a language and knowing how to teach it, which is why our introductory levels are always taught by non-native speakers. Our professors understand, firsthand, everything that goes into learning a language because they, too, went through the process, which informs the very way they teach their students.

Too often, language learning consists of prepping students with archaic, awkwardly formal phrases that a native speaker wouldn’t be caught dead saying aloud. If you want to ask someone about watching a viral video, the price on a hoodie, or beers on tap, we’ll teach you what an outdated textbook never could.

At Fluent City, we believe equally in the power of conversation, of putting the grammar to use by lifting the words off the page.
